Refund Policy

1. Digital Content — Right of Withdrawal
Vehicle check reports are digital content delivered immediately upon purchase. Under the Irish Consumer Rights Act 2022 (transposing EU Directive 2011/83/EU), the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content once delivery has begun with the consumer's express prior consent and acknowledgement that the right of withdrawal is lost.
By completing your purchase on CarScan.ie, you expressly consent to immediate delivery of your report and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the report is generated.
2. When You Are Entitled to a Refund
You are entitled to a full refund if:
- A report could not be generated due to a technical or provider failure on our end
- No data was returned for your vehicle (data source unavailable)
- You were charged in error (e.g. duplicate charge, incorrect amount)
- The report delivered was for the wrong vehicle due to a system error
3. When Refunds Are Not Available
Refunds are generally not available where:
- A report has been successfully generated and delivered
- The vehicle data returned is accurate but not what the buyer expected (e.g. lower valuation than hoped)
- A registration number was entered incorrectly by the buyer
We source data from official third-party providers (Cartell, Brego, MIAFTR). While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee completeness of third-party datasets and this does not constitute grounds for a refund.
4. Dealer Wallet Top-Ups
Dealer wallet balances are refundable minus any amount already used for vehicle checks. To request a wallet refund, contact us with your dealership details. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method.
Promotional credits or bonus balances are non-refundable and non-transferable.
5. How to Request a Refund

Please include:
- Your Report ID (starts with
rpt_) - The email address used for payment
- A brief description of the issue
6. Processing Time
Approved refunds are processed within 5–10 business days. Refunds are made to the original payment method via Stripe. Bank processing times may add a further 3–5 business days.
7. Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our refund decision, you may contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) at www.ccpc.ie or use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
